The UCF Long-Arm Upgrade Kit for Jeep LJ Unlimited consists of 8 suspension links from Rough Country that utilize Currie “Johnny Joints” on one end and a factory-style Clevite rubber bushing on the other plus the UCF Long-Arm Bracket Kit.
The front arms are arranged into wristed radius arms so that the uppers attach to the lowers about mid-way down the arm.
The rear arms are designed to correct the anti-squat problems present with RC’s version of the long-arm kit. The upper arm mounting points at the frame have been raised over 5″ to get the anti-squat numbers close to 100%.
All the long arms attach to the axles at the factory mounting points.
The UCF Long-Arm Bracket Kit for Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Unlimited is built primarily from 1/4″ carbon steel plate. It is comprised of 4 brackets total. One for each front radius arm, one that mounts the rear driver side upper and lower arm, and one more that mounts the rear passenger side upper and lower arm.
The brackets are fully gusseted and will ship ready to weld onto your Jeep. They will be shipped bare of all finishes that would be destroyed by the welding process. Mounting instructions that clearly define where and how the brackets should be mounted are included.
This bracket kit will correct the suspension geometry created by the “off-the-shelf” RC LA kit, improve ground clearance, and avoid skid plate modifications that are required with the RC brackets.

The UCF Aluminum Gas Tank Skid for 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and 2004-2006 LJ Unlimited models is laser cut from 3/16″ thick 6061-T6 aluminum hard plate. It’s fully TIG welded along outside perimeter. At 20lbs it’s the lightest Jeep TJ gas tank skid available. We have included 5 water/mud drain holes along with the requisite dimple for the fuel pickup assembly. Because it will increase ground clearance by over 1″ this skid plate requires the installation of a 1″ or greater body lift.

These are renderings of a prototype set of high clearance body mounts for Jeep TJ/LJ. They increase ground clearance by about 1.5″ at the frame (if you have a 1″ body lift) while providing ramped surfaces to prevent snagging. They are made from 3/16″ steel plate and are fully welded. The design allows you to weld around the whole mount when attaching it to the frame. These are coming soon to the UCF website.

This prototype kit will allow you to install Rough Country long arms on your LJ without the transfer case drop they require. It also corrects the Anit-Squat issue present in their kit and raises the link mounts for better ground clearance.

These photos show most of the new line of body armor from UCF. We will also be developing front fenders in the near future. The Rocker Guards were bolted on this morning. They are laser cut from 3/16″ carbon steel plate and folded on a CNC brake. They are a bolt-on part for any Rubicon model as they use all the factory rivet-nut locations. They will be shipped bare of any finish with a complete mounting kit to include SS 5/16″ hardware for the bottom and sides.

This rendering depicts the upcoming Rear Fender Flares for Jeep TJ/LJ. They are fabricated from laser cut 1/8″ steel plate. They weigh in at about 12lbs per side and can be used with or without body armor. The mounting pattern matches the factory holes in the tub.

Testing a prototype corner for the Jeep Unlimited LJ. This one is 3/16″ 6061-T6 aluminum. It weighs about 16 lbs. The prototypes fit great so it shouldn’t be long until these are available.

I am looking for some good photographs of our products in action. If you have some good pictures of UCF parts your rig please post them here or email them to me at: undercoverfab@gmail.com. I will be posting the photos I receive to the UCF Facebook Fan Page. If they are especially good and can be used on the website I will add your name to a drawing to be held later this year.
Thanks for your help,

UCF has been considering offering an add-on part for those that want the light weight of an aluminum skid but the increased gouge-resistance of the steel version. The “Exo-Skid” parts are laser cut from 1/8″ thick 304 stainless steel sheet. We have also added an additional cross-member to this particular version to add rigidity to the system. The lower skin and cross-member are sandwiching the aluminum skid with grade 5 carriage head bolts. They are a very low-profile fastener that minimally affects ground clearance.

I receive positive feedback from customers every once in a while. This blog may be a good place to show it off. I will start to post some recent feedback here.
“This past weekend my LJ wrangler spent 2 days on the OHV trails of Uwharrie national forest. I handled every trail but one with little or no effort. Based on that and recommendations of an experienced wheeler there (who is also owner of my local shop, Low Range 4×4) I followed them onto Daniel, the hardest trail there. They had a built crawler, an off road EVO Jk, and several rubicons and nobody was on less than 35s. I have no lockers, open diffs front and rear and was on 31 all terrains. What I also had was your high clearance skid system covering my engine and transmission. Good lines from spotters 3 times and walked it up and down but still bounced off a few boulders on the way, and I mean the ones that will smash anything. You were put to the extreme test and passed with flying colors! Not only couldn’t I have done it without you, I never would have considered it. Great product worth every penny. Recommending you to everyone who will listen. Keep it up and thank you again.”

I have been toying with the idea of making some spacers that will lower my transfer case skids by 1″. These would be used so that you can purchase an Ultra-High Clearance skid from the beginning and remove the spacers after you have installed other companion parts such as Slip-Yoke Eliminators, CV Shafts, and Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arms. This isn’t a finished design, just a preliminary test assembly that will be made and installed to test for fit and function.
